Murai Kotone is a researcher and architect based in Yokohama. She is seeking barricades for survival in wartime. Architecture protects people on the run and their livelihoods. In the all-out Russian-Ukrainian war, hospitals, schools, houses and other buildings are destroyed on a daily basis. Despite this, citizens are building architectural barricades to survive the attacks. She call this action "CIVILIAN ARCHITECTUAL RESPONSE".
Her study focuses on "CIVILIAN ARCHITECTUAL RESPONSE" that has not been adequately discussed in wartime architecture: the barricade. Examines the characteristics of barricades as effective protection against attack.
